Needs Assessment/Description |
Hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) is the most prevalent female sexual dysfunction as confirmed by a recent survey of over 2000 postmenopausal women showing 1 in 3 complain of lack of desire. As new drugs are prescribed for men with erectile dysfunction, many women are currently seeking their practitioners’ advice on similar treatments for female sexual dysfunction. Testosterone replacement has been shown to be an effective and safe treatment for the loss of sexual drive in some postmenopausal women. At this time, practitioners debate over how best to manage sexual drive issues in female patients. This activity will discuss how best to manage sexual drive problems in female patients because at this time the FDA does not have an approved drug for HSDD.
